World Music as a Healing Method
Earth music or planet music or world music is a genre of music played by native people from different regions of the world. It is also labeled as traditional folk music and its musicians are from native tribes from all continents like Africa, South America, North America and Asia and, of course, Europe. Eastern European folk music and Slavic beats are very popular music styles, while the Japanese koto and the Indian raga have influenced popular modern music styles.
The idea behind this concept of earth music is that it has to encompass the soul of the native people and their cultural and ethnic heritage. Music is played using basic instruments that are made of natural elements like wood, clay and tree leafs. Most songs have ritual purposes like thanking the gods and celebrating the miracle of life. There are special wedding songs, burial songs and love songs.
Earth music is also described as having medicinal purposes. People can listen to it and use autosuggestion in order to tell their bodies to feel better. There is a common belief that native healers can treat common diseases and even severe ones. Still, modern day people want to rely on the expertise of a schooled medical professional.
